Aurora Valderrama Maldonado studied Ethnomusicology at the School of Music of the National Autonomous University of Mexico. He studied with private tutors in various courses of traditional Mexican music. He has done fieldwork in indigenous communities, in various regions of Mexico. He has taught music courses in indigenous communities. As a member of the trio "La Aurora" that plays huasteca music, he has participated in the divulgation of the diverse aspects that come together in the huapango, which is the traditional festival of the Huasteca region.
In 2005 he participated in the research of the catalog project of phonographic productions of the General Directorate of Popular Cultures. Since 2007 he was responsible for systematization projects, cataloging and subsequent digitization of the collections of the Henrietta Yurchenco Music Library. She is currently the Coordinator of the Henrietta Yurchenco Music Library of the National Commission for the Development of Indigenous Peoples.
